    What is the key to writing an effective song? Lyrics? Melody? Structure? Subject matter?


    Respected Adelaide songwriters Ben Searcy and Maddy Coutts analyse what makes a song work, and what makes some songs stand out from the others.


    Join us for a panel discussion, and add your own analysis to the mix.

    Opportunities To Play Live Original Music in Adelaide

    SCALA showcases original music live almost every week and has done since its foundation. SCALA's performance venue is a safe, friendly, warm environment where 'just starting' songwriters, composers and lyricists rub shoulders with professional original musicians. The venue is open to all who want to hear the newest original music and songs presented by its creators. Our current Adelaide venue is at The Wheatsheaf Hotel in Thebarton. To register your interest you will need to provide us with an electronic press kit.     Attend a workshop that is dedicated to supporting original songwriters

    SCALA songwriters workshops are held regularly. If you are interested in Songwriting and would like to discuss your songs, lyrics, music, if you would like to meet with other songwriters and discuss the aspects of songwriting, maybe find a collaborator or two or just hang out with some other people with songwriting interests then this event is for you.

    SCALA members are featured weekly during Arts Breakfast on Radio Adelaide

    and opening your senses to the colourful realms of imaginative possibility'


    SCALA members are featured guests each week and perform live in the studio for Radio Adelaide's 'Arts Breakfast' programme, aired on Saturday mornings at 9:30am (101.5 FM).     SCALA Compilation CD's Recording and Releases

    SCALA members have the opportunity to record and release their music
