SCALA formed in Adelaide in 1987 to encourage original music of any style. Its annual song competition commenced in 1994 and winning songs are released on a compilation CD each year. SCALA's albums so far have enabled 261 new songs to be released to the public, all but 8 written by Australian songwriters and composers.
The FOOM song competition attracts entries from all states and territories of Australia and some overseas countries each year. FOOM has 6 different sections - Live performance, Demo Open, Demo Instrumental, Master Open, Master Instrumental and Lyrics - catering to all original musicians.
Entries for this year's song competition must be received by Friday 30th June. The Live Performance Section Grand Final will be held at St Pauls Entertainment Centre, Adelaide on Thursday 24th August when results in all other sections will be announced.
