TempestTempest is a fiery musical duet formed of the acoustic guitars, voices and creative energies of Rachel Northeast and Michael Hocking. Soaring vocals, impassioned lyrics and inventive guitar work combine to create a dynamic and colourful musical experience.Rachel and Michael bring a variety of musical influences into the Tempest melting pot: Jewel, James Brown, Elvis, Jeff Lang, Pink, Mozart, John Butler, Diesel, Hendrix, Missy Higgins. The resulting blend has its roots in acoustic based music with a focus on original writing, composing, arranging and performance. Roots? Rock? Pop? Funk? Blues? Maybe all of the above! Rachel and Michael both appeared on Adelaide’s live music scene previous to the formation of Tempest, Rachel as a solo singer songwriter and guitarist and Michael as a solo instrumental guitarist. A chance meeting in 2004 led to the merging of their highly compatible musical talents. Since that time they have been performing with gusto in various live music venues around Adelaide; The Jade Monkey, Grace Emily Hotel, The Joiners Arms, Fad Bar, Prince Albert Hotel and more. In recent times a track or two has popped up on local Adelaide radio stations Coast FM and Radio Adelaide FM. With a catalogue of around twenty original songs (and many more waiting impatiently in the wings) Tempest have been into the studio on two occasions for demo recordings. As with their live performances, the response to these tracks has been enthusiastic and encouraging, edging them towards a larger scale recording project. A couple of years on from the first exchange of songs and musical ideas, and Tempest are well and truly hitting their musical stride. email: tempest-music@hotmail.com

The TimbersThe Timbers are quickly gaining a reputation for their lively and passionate shows. They are new to the Adelaide music scene, but have quickly spawned a loyal and enthusiastic following. If you can imagine The Pogues, U2, and The Mountain Goats writing songs together, then you might know what to expect at one of their shows. Their positive energy is contagious due to the fact that each member is exceptionally talented and unique.Consisting of Simon Basey (vocals, guitar & foot controlled bass pedals), Benjamin Roberts (lead guitar, vocals, foot percussion & tin whistle), Sarah O'Brien (violin) and Craig Atkins (cajon, djembe, snare, stomp), this band is fast becoming Adelaide's next exciting must see live music experience. The Timbers are scheduled to enter the studio in late 2009 to record a full length CD as a follow up to their previously released CD Chase the Sun under their former name 'Room 4.09'
