Craig Battams

Craig has played in pubs around Adelaide for years as well as in South Africa and the US at different times. He first played for SCALA solo in the early days at Club Foote then later with his son in a duo called Spikey Dendrites when our venue was at The Office. Craig spent some time in Tanzania in 2006 and this sparked a resurgence in his creativity.

Marta Bayly

Marta Bayly

Born in Poland, Marta Bayly arrived to the shock of a hot Australian summer at the age of 4 and she has called Adelaide her home ever since. Marta grew up singing along with anything and everything on the radio. She studied piano as a teenager but only picked up a guitar in her 20's. There began a love affair with that acoustic sound and writing songs naturally followed. Add to that a love of singing harmonies and these passions slowly but eventually led her to take to the stage. Marta can be found singing around Adelaide in an acoustic duo with Andy Armstrong.

Bindi Blacher

Bindi Blacher

Bindi’s heart-felt, melodic song, coupled with solid guitar grooves, make her a compelling act. Well crafted, original songs and a strength and honesty set to inspire makes her one of Adelaide’s finest talents.

A song-writer for over fifteen years, Bindi released her second CD of original songs in 2006, Green Just Grows. Distributed nationally to community radio stations, it has gained a great deal of support, being placed in 3D Radio's “top 101” for 2006. Her song Thunderstorms also rated in the top 50 in the AusMusic awards (“Rock” category).

Bindi’s lyrics are emotionally honest and intelligent…her vocal range is haunting, diverse and powerful…Her backing musicians are tight and the production is clear and uncluttered. “Green Just Grows” certainly grows on you with each playing: we’ll be hearing more from this talented lady.
Derek Tickner; Entropy Magazine, Adelaide.

A serious, beautiful and well rounded work.

She makes a guest appearance on internationally acclaimed didgeridoo player Ganga Giri’s Primal Pulse album, and also has a track on SCALA Different Guises.

In 2004, she was selected to perform as part of the FUSE Festival showcase, gaining high profile exposure to music industry professionals, and a clear insight into many aspects of the industry.

    Jane Brown

    Jane Brown

Jane was brought up by musical parents. She says:

"I was conditioned to appreciate Classical music, Hymns, and the slightly more modern choruses sung at the miriad of different churches my family tried out. It was only when my oldest Brother got his own stereo that I realised there was a whole lot more out there! Def Lepard, Bon Jovi, AC DC. Rock music! Big guitars, Loud drums, Loved it."

"Later I met and married a nice country boy. Yep, it took quite a few years before I could put up with 'his music'. Poor guy, but he persevered and I now have the deepest respect for Johnny Cash as well as being a HUGE Brad Paisley fan. I love music. I love a great build up and a free fall chorus. I like writing lyrics that tell a story. I like complicated chords that challenge me as a musician."
