Andy Armstrong and Marta Bayly Since I Met You (Marta Bayly)
Marta Bayly - Vocals, Acoustic Guitar Born in Poland, Marta Bayly arrived to the shock of a hot Australian summer at the age of 4 and she has called Adelaide her home ever since. Marta grew up singing along with anything and everything on the radio. She studied piano as a teenager but when she picked up an acoustic guitar for the first time it was love at first sight! Writing songs naturally followed and these passions, combined with a gift for singing harmonies, eventually led her to take to the stage with singer-songwriter Andy Armstrong. Together they recorded their first studio album Harmony of One in late 2009. Note: This recording of Since I Met You is a special SCALA CD Version and is not the same version of the song that appears on the Harmony of One CD. Since I Met You was Highly Commended in the Live Section of SCALA's FOOM Song Competition 2009. Marta and Andy's myspace music site

Kenny Green Rescue Me (Kenny Green and Twyce Daily)
Kenny Green - vocals In 1992 Kenny Green found an album of an artist that inspired him to start playing guitar. That album was called Raging Thirst which unknown to him at the time was by a local Adelaide artist, Don Morrison. It was nearly 17 years later that Kenny recognized Don's voice at a music festival in Semaphore, South Australia. From humble beginnings in Mt Gambier around a drumfire singing and playing, to becoming a member of SCALA and CMASA, (Country Music Association South Australia) present day Kenny has written around 30 songs over the years but it wasn't until he met and listened to the advice of Welsh born, emigrant to Australia Jimmy Williams (Twyce Daily) that it really started to be any good. Jimmy Williams took out three APRA awards in 2008 including SA country song of the year with Gypsy in my heart. Jimmy has some non-conventional ways of songwriting that are truly amazing to watch in action, a sort of spiritual contact. Kenny met Jimmy at a local open mic and became friends, Kenny showed Jimmy what he had done as a songwriter thus far and Jimmy spent hours with Kenny spilling some much needed truths on what Kenny was doing. It was late 2008 when they collaborated on the song Rescue Me. After becoming quite a requested and popular song at open mics, Rescue Me was judged a co-winner in SCALA's FOOM song competition Live Section in 2009.

Sasha Galliver As I Am (Sasha Galliver)
Sasha Galliver: I always loved singing from a young age. I can remember singing in primary school. I then became interested in guitar when I was at high school and learnt that for a term and then decided to leave school. Music became my emotional outlet and a way to express myself as I was a withdrawn teenager so It became a way to connect with people. I played at the folk festival when I was 15 and at 16 entered the busk-of competition in which I came first in the junior section. I entered again the next year and won again - this time the prize was $1000. I used to busk a lot down the main street of my home town, Victor Harbor (South Australia). One day a man came up to me and suggested I come up to Adelaide and play on the radio, so I did! After playing an original song called The drinking song the host of the live radio show (Terry Bradford) pulled me aside and was keen to sign me up to his record label. From there I recorded my first CD Angel Baby at 18 whilst 8 months pregnant. It was hard to hold some of those notes but I gave it a good shot! I have still been writing a lot and I hope to record another CD when the time is right as now I am a busy mum of two boys. As I Am was a co-winner in SCALA's FOOM song competition Live Section in 2009

UltraViolet High And Dry (Gloria Albanese)
Gloria Albanese - Vocals/Harmonies/Guitar
Recorded at Access Audio (Private Studio), December 2008 Now an accomplished guitarist/singer/songwriter, Gloria Albanese first started out her music career performing covers at various local Italian festivals. Her proud father deemed this a good enough reason to buy her lots of little instruments. Tucked away in her bedroom with all her new toys, a spark for songwriting opened her eyes to new musical possibilities. This is where her father threatened to take all these toys away! Her success as a songwriter developed when she became one of 5 national finalists to perform in the 2004 Glenn Shorrock Music Scholarship Awards, and she has since played alongside well known SA acts including a support spot for Melbourne artist 'Mark Eden'. Her songs have featured on a number of compilation CDs including SCALA Over the Edge, DB Magazines Sound of MISA Volume#4, and Siena College's Time's Gone - where she was invited back to the school as Patron of the Arts for 2005. She formed the band ULTRAVIOLET in 2006, with individual influences inspiring a fusion of pop/funk/soul - their sound creation best known as 'acoustic groove'. High And Dry was co-winner in the Studio Open Section of SCALA's FOOM 2009 Song Competition. Ultraviolet on Myspace Ultraviolet on Unsigned

Mika El Inspire Wonder Lullaby For Cosmonauts (Mika El Inspire Wonder)
Mika El Inspire Wonder -vocal / bass / keyboard / percussion
Recorded at Chapel Lane Studios, Hindmarsh, SA Mika El Inspire Wonder is a Japanese singer/songwriter residing in Adelaide, South Australia. English is not her mother tongue but she uses the disadvantage as her advantage for her song writing, creating lyrics with Japanese intertwining with English. Her cultural background adds unusual flavour to the melody lines. The mixture of Eastern music scale with her world music oriented background and her eclectic interest in wide variety of genres creates mesmerising effect in her original music, capturing unique concepts and style. Lullaby for Cosmonauts The content of lyrics is way out there from day-to-day life, but that's one of the characteristics of Mika El's music. This is an experimental tune. The oriental taste brought forward by including Japanese lyrics enhances the strange and mystic feel to the song. All the foreign language-lyrics sounded somewhat like instrument tracks rather than as vocals when I was a kid. The meaning of lyrics didn't matter because I never understood them. It's strange but still it is a way to enjoy music. And I hoped to share this wacky way of appreciating music with audiences. Lullaby for Cosmonauts co-won the Demo Open section of SCALA's FOOM 2009 song competition.

Mika El Inspire Wonder Fresh Start (Mika El Inspire Wonder)
Mika El Inspire Wonder - vocal / bass / keyboard / percussion See track 8, Lullaby For Cosmonauts, for a photo and bio of Mika. The most important thing about this song for me was that the recording was done in a way I'd probably never repeat again, unless I was swimming in dollars (Let's hope that will happen soon and I can get back into recording at the studios). Because I was new to recording, I didn't know how to maximise the use of space, time and engineers, and I've done it the most expensive way, almost as professionals do. It made a huge dent on my bank account but I could feel what it'd be like to have all the stuff involved in to be absolutely on my side, trying to create the best music that I can produce. What a juicy experience to have - I can aim at this level of quality in any other recording opportunities in future. I treasure all the experiences through the production of this song. Fresh Start co-won the Studio Open section of SCALA's FOOM 2009 song competition.

UltraViolet Angel In Disguise (Gloria Albanese)
Gloria Albanese - Vocals/Harmonies/Guitar Recorded at Access Audio (Private Studio) December 2009; Producer/Engineer: Danny Bryan About the song: So who is the Angel In Disguise? She is a character of true circumstance who was burnt in a fire and scared for life, and thought that true love would never come her way. A young man had seen past the imperfections, giving her reason to no longer fear the future ahead. My own personal romantic notions of life triggered these feelings of sadness and heart-felt happiness, and I was compelled to turn this story into a song. Inner qualities are sometimes ignored and this situation is a perfect example of the beauty within. High And Dry won the Studio Open Section of SCALA's FOOM 2010 Song Competition and Gloria Albanese was inaugural winner of The Electric Room prize. See track 7, High And Dry, for a photo of Ultraviolet, a bio of Gloria Albanese and website information.

David Robinson - vocals, guitar, harmonica, tambourine David Robinson writes, performs and records his own songs. He has released two albums, and has also appeared on a dozen or so compilation CDs. Occasionally categorising his sound as Britfolk, he can be found strumming his much loved and well used 12-string guitar at venues around town. In the last couple of years David has rediscovered his passion for songwriting, and this in turn has rekindled his desire to record. David's songs paint lyrical pictures that reflect many themes; in general his compositions wonder what it is really all about.

Mika El Inspire Wonder Unrealistic Reality-F2 (Mika El Inspire Wonder)
Mika El Inspire Wonder (vocal / bass/ guitar/producer) See track 8, Lullaby For Cosmonauts, for a photo and bio of Mika. For three and a half months into learning how to play a guitar, I created this song on my sick bed, using my first guitar that was given to me by my musical mentor. Because I didn't have any pre-set ideas how to create songs, the structure was purely dependant on inspirations that were coming. This song was my fourth song I have ever written using a guitar. Not knowing what chords I'm playing were also an advantage. I used my ears and how my body wanted to hear the sound as the guidance. This song received Honourable Mention at 2010 Songwars Songwriting Competition in the USA. "...,I really like the structure of this song. It is almost like Pink Floyd. And the melody is very good too." Jack Douglas (Producer for John Lennon, The Who, Miles Davis, and Aerosmith, etc).
