SCALA Another Lesson In Love - Artist ProfilesKatie Greenhalf All I Need (Katie Greenhalf)
Produced and engineered by Quentin Eyers at Q The Music Katie Greenhalf has been involved in music throughout her childhood, learning the violin and singing. Performing has always been a love of hers, particularly her involvement in musical theatre. She was always interested in composition but as a child didn't know where to start. Taking up the piano in her early teens inspired her to be creative and she began to write her own songs. She received an encouragement award in SCALA's 2003 Festival of Original Music Song Competition (FOOM) which was a motivation to continue writing. Subsequently she has been a winner in the FOOM Live Section on three occasions - in 2005 with I Thought I Was A Hero (which appeared on the SCALA Shadows and Light CD in 2007) with All I Need in 2007 and with Maybe We'll Fall In Love (track 17) in 2008.

Adrian Miller and Greg Wright Mine A Mistake (Adrian Miller)
Adrian Miller - vocals, guitar Produced and engineered by Anthony Stewart at Red Brick Music. adrian looked up from behind the imposing assortment of files on his desk, momentarily distracted by the sounds wafting through a nearby window. It was not usual for his day to be interrupted in this way, and so he approached the window with some enthusiasm. On the footpath below he could see someone with a guitar standing by a small hat containing a few coins, singing to a modest crowd gathered around or passing by. He had not heard the song before. adrian remembered that his mother had warned him that people sometimes sang, danced or rejoiced in an attempt to hide great inner turmoil, and that creativity often caused great personal anguish. She expressed delight that he had escaped this fate. But on this morning when he heard this song he began to wonder whether he somehow had something in common with the singer, whether he were not similarly afflicted in some way….. Mine A Mistake was a winning song in the FOOM 2007 Demo Open Section.

The Imports All My Love Is All (Alan and Jessica O'Toole)
Jess O'Toole - vocals Produced and engineered by Quentin Eyers at Q The Music. Alan O'Toole was born and raised in working class Birmingham, UK. His father was from Belfast, Northern Ireland and a big band leader whilst in the army. Alan's mother brought back his first guitar from a holiday in Spain, when he was about 10 years old, but he didn't learn how to play until he was about 18. He wrote a few songs but could never tell anyone because 1980's working class Birmingham was not the kind of place to go over to the pub and tell your mates that you have just written a love song! He (and his family) moved to Australia in 1996 when Jessica was 4 years old. The move rekindled Alan's enthusiasm to write songs. He heard about SCALA and played his first gig in 2004 with Jim Patterson (The Borderers) under the name of "The Imports". The band has upsized and downsized since then (or imported and exported) and these days it comprises Alan and daughter Jessica. Jess O'Toole is now 16 years old and is in year 12 at high school. She is in the school choir and writes her own songs on the piano (she wrote her first song at the age of 10 an upbeat song called "The greatest day") as well as having input with Alan's song writing. Alan and Jess share a wide range of musical influences, ranging from old style country (both of them) to the latest hip hop (just Jess) Alan and Jess say: "Thanks to everyone who supported us and a big thank you to SCALA for all of the opportunities they offer each year to original songwriters. Long may it continue." All My Love Is All was one of the winning songs in the Live Section of FOOM 2008
