Les Martin has published a wide variety of writing including professional articles, rap, humour and serious poetry. He prefers to write poetry using rhythm and rhyme (hence the association with music). He has written songs for children as well as humorous operas for children (and produced them). He is an assistant school principal in Sydney’s outer west and he lives in the Blue Mountains in New South Wales.
Are You Gonna Let Me Love You was co-winner in the 1999 FOOM Demo section. Les was also a co-winner in the FOOM 1999 Lyrics section and another lyric was highly commended. So of four entries in 1999 three won an award!

Paul Kneipp left home in Queensland at the age of 16 to begin a career in music which has so far spanned 20 years. Arriving in Sydney in 1977 he soon found little time to spare, with study at the N.S.W. Conservatorium of Music and touring and recording here and overseas with a range of artists including Sharon O'Neil, Marcia Hines and Seals and Crofts. After playing at the Worlds Fair in New Orleans in 1985, Paul returned to Australia to begin writing and producing original material. He has secured record contracts with major record companies for several artists and engineered and produced for many others, including Tim Finn. His music has been played in Europe, South America, Asia and Australia, with a number one in Israel. Paul continues to write and record for new artists, living in Sydney with his wife Danielle.
Rex Goh was born in Singapore, came to Australia in 1972 and eventually settled in Sydney. He gained a Diploma Of Jazz Studies at the NSW Conservatorium Of Music in 1980. Rex has toured and recorded with a host of Australian artists including Savage Garden (he played on their US#1 and #5 hits), Air Supply (3 multi-platinum albums), Daryl Braithwaite, The Eurogliders, Renee Geyer, Grace Knight, Tommy Emmanuel, Kate Ceberano, Wendy Matthews, Gina Jeffries, Graeme Connors, Graeme Jesse and Jim Kellysí Guitarkestra. He has performed with numerous international artists including Randy Crawford and Tom Jones. Studio work also includes countless jingles and many film and television themes. Rex has also produced albums for Tania Bowra, The Robertson Brothers, Rene Diaz and Run Silent, to name a few. He is currently working in Sydney with The Brothers Of Oz (and just about everyone else …)

The trio that was "Third Drawer" formed in 1997 when song writing duo Peter Beeby (Cosmic Desert/Feelso...) and Catherine Blanch (Feelso...) teamed up with the amazing vocal talents of James Burchell (Cosmic Desert). For 3 years they delighted themselves and audiences around Adelaide with their acoustic-style original music delivery and strong harmonies. Jenna Bonavita (Bass player extraordinaire!) and John Yacka (Cosmic Desert) joined "Third Drawer" for the recording of That Girl, adding their own stylish touches and perspectives to the song.
That Girl (The Other One) was Highly Commended in the 1999 FOOM Master Section.

Fiona Stewart started singing professionally in the late 1970s fronting various rock, pop and funk groups in Hobart, Tasmania. She moved to Sydney in 1982 to study acting fulltime at NIDA, graduating in 1984.
For the next 10 years she pursued a successful career as an actor working with all major Australian theatre companies and appearing on all national TV networks in various tele-series and films.
In 1995 Fiona left Australia with a swag of original songs in her luggage headed for Europe with the intention of focusing exclusively on music and developing her career as a performing singer/songwriter.
Lama Kiss was co-winner in the 1999 FOOM Demo section.

Stacey Errington began singing at a very young age - a prominent influence being her mother who was a gospel singer. Stacey often sang to audiences at church which is where her stage presence has developed.

As proprietor of Enterprise Recordings for the past 20 years Ian Coulls has engineered a wide variety of music and has co-produced the last 3 SCALA CDs. He has played in Mortimer Snerd and the Trio con brio. During the nineties he put out three CDs as Something Else.
Peter and Ian first played music together in the late seventies. Over the next two decades they have recorded together numerous songs and pieces written either separately or collaboratively. Wondering and Don't know why, both from the first Something Else album, were two of their most successful collaborations. Peter produced his well-known Audioasis album at Enterprise Recordings in 1995, while Ian and Christina Barrie were playing in the eastern states and in France as Something Else.

Tina now focuses on occasional recordings and live gigs. Recent highlights for Tina include performing with her son Tyson.
Ian Farr was born in South Australia in 1941. he studied at Sydney Conservatorium Of Music, and at the age of 19 joined the Sydney Symphony Orchestra as a double bass player, after an invaluable 4 years of education there, he left to pursue opportunities as a pianist and composer and wrote several song-cycles and chamber pieces, in 1971 he became involved in theatre and worked in it for 24 years, taking in film, dance, mime, cabaret, choirs and rock bands along the way. since 1995 he has been working in schools and in the Port Adelaide mental health community.

Solar Dice has sailed the seas of uncertainty for a couple of years now and has finally been thrown a lifeline courtesy of The Milk. That 'campfire' feel has been given real depth thanks to the band's rich instrumentation and an addictive rhythmic groove.

Helen is also an artist who held her second multimedia exhibit in January 1999 - A celebration of Life - Art as Healing as well as a humourist and a teacher of T'ai Chi Chih.
She has two albums - In the presence of Angels (1996) and Through the darkest days & endless nights (1999) a collection of songs about people with Alzheimer's disease. Both of these are available from Indiepool.com.
Thought I'd Never Crossed Your Mind was runner-up in the 1999 Songwriters Event.

Malcolm McCallum lives in Sydney and has written for and/or performed in a variety of theatre productions, short films and bands. He describes his work as being characterised by lengthy periods of indolence and torpor interrupted only when someone else has a good idea. Adrian's exhortation to "Let's be Brilliant" stands as a recent example of the process at work.
