From winning the West End Export Grand Slam Battle of the Bands with her band Virginia Wolfe Avra Velis went out on her own, touring nationally doing Modern Greek clubs and concerts with many international artists. Next she moved to only doing her original material and working with the band The Call. This led to a couple of joint album ventures, which knocked the naive singer songwriter when she experienced what it's like to "be done by the big mean nasty record company". Naivety is gone forever!
From here it was the great emotional rollercoaster ride that leads to massive songwriting activity but also unfortunately results in destroying you for about 6 months afterwards. So now we have lots of songs, no more apologies and an indomitable desire to bring the push-up bra back into the Adelaide music scene….
Now About You was co-winner of the 1998 FOOM Demo Section.
